This stream supports EA Registered Regional and Local Voluntary Youth Organisations groups in Northern Ireland who work with 4-25 year olds in an informal setting with a particular focus on the faith based and uniformed sector, inclusive of Generic/Non-Targeted groups, not in receipt of funding but registered and not those currently in receipt of Local Area Based Funding. This stream is to be used to create opportunities for children and young people to re-connect, re-energise and re-engage with peers throughout the summer months.

Funding Guidance & Information
- All EA Registered Youth Organisations (Regional or Local) in who work with 4-25 year olds in an informal setting who are in receipt or not in receipt of funding.
- Those Currently Funded under Local Area Based Funding are NOT eligible to apply for this stream
- This funding stream particularly focuses on organisations from the faith based and uniformed sector.
There are three camp types under Summer Jam:
Super Regional Camps
Super Regional Camps can apply for funding up to £60,000 per camp.
Criteria:
- Delivered over a Minimum 3 days consecutively
- Minimum 400+ children and young people per day
Smashing Regional Camps
Smashing Regional Camps can apply for funding up to £30,000 per camp.
Criteria:
- Delivered over Minimum 3 days consecutively
- Minimum 300 children and young people per day
Great Local Camps
Great Local Camps can apply for funding up to £6,000 per camp.
Criteria:
- Delivered over a Minimum 3 days consecutively
- Minimum 20+ children and young people per day
All funding will be based on:
- Assessed need as identified through application.
- Funding applications will be assessed depending on numbers of young people whilst ensuring best value principles.
- Strength based approaches to youth work and the development of programmes that will encourage young people to re-connect, re-energise and re-engage over the summer period.
Programmes should have a particular focus on the NI Mental Health Champion’s key recommendations:
- A physical activity programme that ensures that children meet the guidelines for the minimum amount of moderate- intense physical activity, with a focus on outdoors (1 hour daily)
- Healthy balanced meals and snacks
- Creative pursuits, including options for music, drama and art/ crafts
- Celebrations which involve parents and others within the community, to promote self-esteem and hope
Application for funding will open on 10th May 2021 and close on 21st May 2021.
This is a one-time funding opportunity for summer provision between 1st July to 31st August 2021 only.
You can use this funding for programme costs up to a maximum depending on Camp Selection:
- Transport costs
- Accreditation costs
- Food and refreshments for the programme or event (not at a profit to children and young people and underpinned by healthy eating)
- Programme materials linked to the activity
- Entrance fees/activity costs Associated with the programme (Day visits and activities not Including residential stays)
- Hire of premises/Residential Costs for events or programmes
- Printing costs for materials associated with the programme
- Equipment costs (not exceeding £1,000 per unit cost or ICT Items over £200)
- Training Costs for Volunteers
- Management Costs and within a maximum of 10% of your budget for Regional Super and Smashing Camps only, this can include staff costs associated with the management of Super and Smashing Regional Camps.

You will be required to complete:
- Programme Report which will include number of young people engaged and outcomes of the programme by the 30th September 2021
- Income and expenditure form
- For funding over £3,000 groups will be required to provide receipts/invoices/statements.
- For funding over £30,000 (total across all summer funding schemes or inclusive of existing funding your organisation is in receipt of from EA) may be subject to financial verification visit by the Education Authority within 2022-2023 period
