CEO visit to Lakeland Youth Centre

This evening, CEO Richard Pengelly has joined us in Lakeland Youth Centre, Enniskillen to meet with the staff team and hear more about the work of our local and regional teams based there. 

The visit which was hosted by Assistant Director Arlene Kee and Senior Youth Officer for the area Ryan McGee, started with a visit to the Media room where the Lakeland Young Women’s Group which consists of 10 young women who identified a need to have a central resource for all signposting and support agencies.  

The group spoke to Richard about their current project developing a “Care Catalogue” for their peers, that will provide young people with one location where they can access support services for a range of needs.

Next up, Richard also got to meet with the Fermanagh Horizons co-hort who have just completed a week long residential at Gortatole. 

The young people told the CEO how they are developing friendships, giving back to their community through volunteering and becoming leaders and role models for young people within the area.

Richard got to meet was the generic summer provision for young people age 9 – 11.  The focus of this programme is for young people to have fun over the summer before transitioning into a new school, while also encouraging new experiences, building capacity and confidence.

This evening session was hosted by our REACH team where led a session to help young people explore mindfulness and enhance their emotional health and wellbeing.

Finally, the CEO got to meet the Fermanagh Rural Voice which serves as a platform for young people to express their opinions, engage in decision making and to help to address local issues.
